Marshall in a box or MIAB pedals come a dime a dozen. Save your dimes, because you will DIME the Lovepedal Purple Plexi!
Sean at Lovepedal has been producing incredible effects for almost two decades now, and some pedals have been reinvented along the way. The Lovepedal Purple Plexi is one of those pedals that breaks the mold with each iteration.
The enclosure for the Purple Plexi is an ice cream sandwich style rectangle with rounded edges. Inputs are on the side with the power on the usual Lovepedal right hand side. Volume, Tone and Gain are represented in knob form and the usual bypass led and true bypass switch adorn the face.
Sweet, sweet graphics on the purple pedal remind one of the 70’s, I guess? The internal components are the Old School build components as of late with enlarged ratings and premium quality. If Sean couldn’t score the parts for a run of pedals, he simply won’t make them. No cheaping out over here. Again, there is little wiring on this pedal so as to cut down on miscellaneous frequencies invading your tone.
The range of Marshall tones in this box is astounding. From Bluesbreaker, to JTM45, to JCM800 with a clockwise turn of the knob there are plenty of tones to keep a person busy with this pro MIAB. The Lovepedal Purple Plexi doesn’t drown the tone with fuzz or overt distortion, however as one may expect. The JHS Angry Charlie crunches nicely, yet the Plexi rounds out both rhythmic and lead playing so perfectly, it’s just as Reepicheep said about the water in the Utter East, “It’s Sweet!” The noise floor is low, yet the volume is almost stupid loud. Plenty of gain on tap as well, and I mean plenty.

The Lovepedal Purple Plexi is a part of a brotherhood of pedals that plays well with others, and can play any position on the field. It makes an incredible foundational drive, as well.
