Tired of Velcro failing on the bottom of your pedals and pedalboard? Try Godlyke Power-Grip Pedalboard Tape!
What got me thinking about considering Godlyke Power-Grip Pedalboard Tape in place of traditional Velcro? My Lovepedal Eternity came with some of this tape on it’s bottom and It was the easiest of all of my pedals to place and replace on my pedal board. All other pedals had traditional velcro. I started noticing two things about my board with the old velcro:
- Cosmetically – the fact that my pedalboard held more lint and hair than my laundry machine catches in a year was disconcerting
- Functionally – the traditional Velcro, both industrial and generic, had a limited shelf life for someone who swapped out pedals every so often. Hooks and Loops work for only so long.
The concept that the Godlyke Power-Grip Pedalboard Tape is based on is basically field of mushrooms. There is no Hook nor Loop side. The Tape is the same on both sides of a connection. As the tape interlocks, one must be sure about where the pedal is to sit, because these fasteners lock in for the long hall. One could even lift an entire pedalboard from this strong connection.
The glue under the tape is kind enough to the paint of your preexisting hardware, so no worries there. Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about needing to remove the tape, cause the tape is built to last.
Thegigrig posted a short video detailing Andy Timmons’ (bell ding/horn honk) Pedalboard build from Musikmesse in Germany from 2015. If you fast forward to 2:29, you will see that Daniel shares a little trick. Use Godlyke Power-Grip Pedalboard Tape on the pedal. With a quick twist, the pedals can still be moved around easily, and the benefit of the pedalboard tape can still be utilized! (Video will follow the post.)
