Romans 9 Soap Bible Study
Scripture: Romans 9
2 My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief 3 for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them.
16 So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it.
19 Well then, you might say, “Why does God blame people for not responding? Haven’t they simply done what he makes them do?”
20 No, don’t say that. Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, “Why have you made me like this?”
Paul expressed such a sacrificial love in this passage. His focus is on that his people would know Christ. Although irrational in possibility, his heart demonstrates Christian Love.
God is sovereign to the extreme where he depends on no one else for existence. By this rule, he is able to exercise his will in whatever way he sees fit. He binds himself to the promises he gave to his people.
Our arguments usually are directed at God with anger and frustration. Our questions are unfounded in begging the existence and the life of God.
Have a heart that is true Agape.
There will be many questions you may have of God, sovereignty is not one of them that he will entertain. He looks for the faithful questioners, not the unfaithful arguers.
God – help me to be an example of sacrifice, although I come to you with my questions. I do not doubt your existence, I sometimes doubt why you chose me!
