You could buy tubes anywhere, but how do you know that you are getting the quality and service that your beloved amp deserves? My Eurotubes.com Review.
I love tubes amps. I’ve tried to cozy up to the Line 6 behemoth, to no avail. The sensitivity/responsiveness, warmth, and overall sound of tubes is what I found I was looking for from day one.
After playing through many amps in my day, I have learned where to buy certain replacement parts, and where not to buy them as well. Guitar Center and Music Go Round carry a good selection of tubes, if in a pinch you need one today. Mesa Boogie offers their own brand of tubes mail order, originally Groove Tubes or JJ’s, but stripped of label in place of the M/B signature. Both options stated thus far work wonderfully. I did find that I overpaid for the most part in each instance. With the brick and mortar stores, as you might have guessed, I paid for the convenience of stocking a tube in a nearby zip code. Mesa relies on the craftsmanship and reliability to sell their amps. Those people who are into Mesa/Boogie know what I’m talking about.
Then there is the onslaught of online suppliers that don’t promise more than a sterile buying experience, with questionable pricing. The tube store, the tube depot, ebay, and amazon all offer tubes at (raspy voice, thick accent) just the right price for you, my friend.
I want to direct you over to a corner of the internet that ships to the contiguous 48-states within 2 days, providing matched pairs/quads, nay, sextuplet combinations of power tubes and the like. That’s right…Eurotubes.com loves you baby.
It’s one of the most proudly lo-fi jonctions of musicality and parts that has ever been concocted, a la Analogman.com.
They offer retube kits, individual sales, preamp/power tubes/rectifier tubes, even bias probes…6L6, EL34, EL84, 12AX7, 12AT7, KT88…The list goes on and on…
(which come in extremely handy if you don’t know where your bias points are at, but you know where the bias pot is). Their most famous brand that they carry, have a relationship with and trust is JJ/Tesla.
Plenty of people are raiding garage sales searching for old, old tube amplifiers hoping to score a slough of old mullard, RCA, and telefunken tubes.
Eurotubes makes this hunt irrelevant. Their tubes sound, and feel great! If you have any questions, virtually anyone at the shop who answers the phone can speak from years of experience.
Bob from Eurotubes even coached meover the phone as I sttempted to bias an old marshall head of mine. I shocked myself bigtime as the screwdriver slipped. The shock sent me screaming into the next room. When I returned to the phone, Bob’s first question was, “So, how far up your arm did the charge make it?”
Their experience with virtually every make and model of tube amp is what earns my purchase.
Next time you need to grab a set of tubes, or a nifty bias probe, go to Eurotubes.com first.
